These Terms of Use govern your use of Recipe Exchange. By creating an account, submitting content or using the website, you agree to these terms.
Purpose of Recipe Exchange
Recipe Exchange is a community for sharing and discovering Halaal recipes. It is not a Halaal certification body and does not provide medical, dietary or professional food-safety advice.
Accounts
You must provide accurate information, keep your password secure and take responsibility for activity on your account. Users under 18 should use the website only with the involvement of a parent or guardian.
Halaal-only submissions
Recipes submitted to Recipe Exchange must use Halaal ingredients and preparation methods. Contributors are responsible for checking ingredient labels, meat sources and relevant Halaal certification. Do not submit non-Halaal ingredients. If an ingredient or product has an uncertain Halaal status, explain this clearly or use a verified Halaal alternative. Publication on Recipe Exchange does not amount to formal Halaal certification.
Review, editing and publication
All recipe submissions are reviewed before publication. Administrators may correct spelling and formatting, separate ingredients from the method, add optional information, ask for clarification, or reject, unpublish or remove content that appears misleading, unsafe, unlawful, non-Halaal or in breach of another person’s rights. Optional fields such as preparation time, cooking time and servings are not required and may be added later by an administrator.
Your content and permission to use it
You retain ownership of original content you submit. By submitting it, you grant Recipe Exchange a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free permission to store, format, edit, reproduce, display, publish and promote that content in connection with the website and community. You confirm that you have the right to submit the text and photographs and that they do not infringe copyright, privacy or other rights.
Ratings and comments
Ratings and comments must be honest, respectful and relevant to the recipe. Spam, harassment, abusive language, impersonation and misleading content are not allowed. Recipe Exchange may moderate or remove ratings and comments. Signed-in members may submit one rating per recipe and may update their rating where the website allows it.
Food safety and allergens
Recipes are contributed by community members and may contain mistakes or omissions. Always use safe food-handling practices, cook food to appropriate temperatures, check product labels and consider allergies, intolerances and individual dietary needs. Seek qualified advice where needed.
Availability and responsibility
Recipe Exchange is provided on an “as available” basis. We do not guarantee that every recipe is accurate, suitable for your circumstances or continuously available. To the extent permitted by law, Recipe Exchange is not responsible for loss arising from reliance on community-submitted content. Nothing in these terms limits rights that cannot lawfully be limited.
Suspension and removal
We may suspend or close accounts and remove content where these terms are breached, the website or its users are put at risk, or the law requires us to act.
Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains how personal information is handled.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa.
